Studio family photoshoot is one of the best ways of documenting your family as the children grow up. Studio photoshoot provides neutral background that would complement any decor and interior of any room in your home. A huge part of the successful portrait plays preparation part — the better the preparation, the better the result will be.
One of the questions that I get asked a lot is what to wear to a family photoshoot? How to collected outfits that would complement each other and would look good together? So I thought it would be the perfect time to share some of my favourite family photo outfit ideas. I always recommend selecting a color palette for your session. This will allow you to coordinate outfits with one another. Choose an item you love and feel great in, maybe a dress or a favorite top. Then, coordinate with each other using your consistent color palette. Your photos will look intentional and natural, without feeling “matchy”.
If you decide to purchase new items for your session, try them on and wear them around the house or out and about. Make sure you feel comfortable in them and you aren’t concerned about straps, see-through fabrics, or worrying about the fit. This will ensure you and your family are as comfortable as possible during the session!

Family Outfit Ideas: Light and Warm
This light and warm color palette is a perfect neutral option that will look good anytime of year in almost any location you can imagine. If you are drawn to light neutral tones with a hint of warmth or blue-green hues, try the following family photo outfit ideas.
When choosing neutral colours you ensure that the outfits would stay contemporary for many years to come and won’t distract with from your emotions and love for each other. This is the love we came to document to the photo session, not the shoes, right?

Family Outfits: Blue and Blush
When you want to add a bit of colour and personality Blue and Blush Pink are great combination, that is still a classic and timeless one, it adds just enough color to give your photos some interest. These colours will look good in studio conditions, as well as if you decide to take your photos outdoor — to a river bank or to a beach location. It is very important to keep the tones to the dusty pink tones, as they won’t give colour cast to the faces and they look great in combination with the blues.
TOP TIP:
When putting Family outfits together, it’s important to keep in mind the overall line. If everyone wears trousers and a tucked in white shirt, then there will be a visual line across your family on the photos — thus its important to keep those lines varied — mum is wearing a dress, dad is wearing a shirt and trousers, boy is wearing dungarees and the girl is wearing a dress and a long cardigan — that way everyones lines are on different levels and together you look beautiful together.
